SOUND SCULPTURES: Ferdinand Försch \"BioMachine\"

Ferdinand Försch
"BioMachine"
Concert for new string instruments and loop machines

Ferdinand Försch’s main focus of interest is the interrelation of “sound-form/form-sound”.
As a musician and composer, he has been working since 1982 on the development and
construction of new musical instruments, sound sculptures and sound installations.
He has invented and built far more than 100 sound objects (metal drums, string and hybrid
instruments, sound images, drum and sound walls, sound machines, the Bach and Cage
harps) from a variety of materials and presented them to the public in concerts, exhibitions
and performances.
Since the late 1980s he has been systematically developing a comprehensive artwork derived from visualizations of the tone sequences C-A-G-E and B-ACH (paintings, graphic art, reliefs and sculptures, sound and video installations, scores, compositions and films).
1997 he founded the “KlangHaus” in Hamburg, an experimental forum for interdisciplinary sound art, concerts, exhibitions and performances. He has participated, with solo concerts
and exhibitions, in numerous international festivals: Electronic Music Festival, Stockholm / Kampnagel, Hamburg / Inventionen, Berlin /
Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival / Frankfurt Feste 92 (Alte Oper, Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt) / Museum Ostdeutsche Galerie, Regensburg / World Drum Festival, Hamburg / Art Kite
Museum, Detmold / Geneva Percussion Festival / Museum Ludwig, Koblenz / The Kitchen, New York / Shanghai Arts Festival, BizArt Gallery, Shanghai, etc
